Emily’s primary role is to answer all student enquiries as quickly and efficiently as possible, or sign post students in the direction they need to go in. Emily also works closely with the Admissions Manager, assisting with many admissions duties including processing applications, organising audition days, and preparing for the new student intake. Emily is also involved in student support, maintaining administration of the injury and health and wellbeing support services, and providing initial listening support to students.

Career history

Emily studied BA (Hons) Dance at Bath Spa University, transferring to York St John University for her final year. Throughout her dance studies, Emily specialized in solo choreography, but was also highly interested in the wellbeing of young dancers. She chose to research this for her dissertation. During her time at University, Emily worked as a note taker for Randstad, supporting fellow students with physical, mental or learning disabilities in their lectures and seminars. She was also a peer mentor for first year students.

After graduating in 2015, Emily worked on a summer project with young offenders with Dance United Yorkshire, which was a challenging but rewarding experience. She also held creative workshops in a palliative care center with Hoot Creative Arts, all of which furthered her interest in the contribution of the arts to the wellbeing of people of all ages and circumstances. Throughout this Emily also waitressed in a small bistro in York City Centre. With an interest to start full time work in an arts environment, Emily started working at NSCD in November 2015. Her role progressed into the admissions department in early 2016.
