Create brand new work with four international choreographers and their collaborators, tour across the UK and Europe, grow your artistry with VERVE Artistic Director Matthew Robinson and a variety of guest artists, develop teaching skills and participate in international exchanges with peers. VERVE is the postgraduate company of Northern School of Contemporary Dance and all dancers are enrolled on the School's MA in Contemporary Dance Performance.

London-based Botis Seva is Artistic Director of his own company Far from the Norm, and this year, guest Artistic Director for the National Youth Dance Company, Sadler’s Wells. Botis has been commissioned to make work by Scottish Dance Theatre, Sadler’s Wells, and Channel 4 amongst others, was an Aerowaves artist, and is the recipient of multiple choreographic awards.Watch: Previous work Read: Interview
Known for her complex, articulate and layered physical vocabulary, Lali Ayguadé has been a dancer with Akram Khan, Marcos Morau and Hofesh Shechter, and is a prolific teacher and facilitator at festivals such as B12 and Deltebre. She directs her own company- Lali Ayguadé Company, and has made commissioned work for companies such as Bodhi Project. This will be her first work in the UK.Watch: Previous work
Mari Carrasco is a fresh voice in Scandinavian contemporary dance. Mari has created commissions for companies and schools across Sweden, Norway and Denmark including Norrdans, Riksteatern, Dansstationen, Unga Klara and Black Box Company. Physically and technically demanding, her work is equally wild and thoughtful. This will be her first work in the UK.
Matthew Robinson is Artistic Director of VERVE, and former Rehearsal Director and dancer for Scottish Dance Theatre. Matthew has performed and/or rehearsed/assisted in the creation of work by artists inlcuding Damien Jalet, Sharon Eyal, Hofesh Shechter, Anton Lachky, Fleur Darkin, and Victor Quijada, amongst others. Matthew’s first work for VERVE – NEVERSINK, toured to over 20 venues in 2018 as part of the touring programme, being performed to thousands of audience members across the UK and other European countries. This will be Matthew’s fourth year as VERVE Artistic Director and his third curated programme.Watch: Previous work
