Ballet tutor – Centre for Advanced Training (CAT)

£29.40ph Closing date - 01/09/2017

Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) are currently looking to recruit a teacher of ballet to deliver classes on our scheme. We are particularly interested in dance artists who can deliver courses of study to our young, gifted and talented dancers aged 13-17 years.

The NSCD CAT scheme is part of a national intensive dance programme for 13-17 year olds who display exceptional potential and passion for dance. The scheme delivers non-residential, training programmes and provides exceptional and innovative tuition to young people, regardless of their personal circumstances. We maintain close links with influential dance companies and artists, creating opportunities for children to work with and build relations with future employers, and to gain an inspiring yet realistic insight into the profession.

The CAT scheme runs for 30 weeks over 3 terms (10 weeks per term), autumn, spring and summer. Our autumn term will begin week commencing 19th September 2017. You would be required to teach one class per week on Tuesday evenings during each term.

Essential Experience / Requirements 

  • Professional ballet dance training at conservatoire level or equivalent.
  • Experience of teaching ballet to gifted and talented young dancers.
  • Ability to undertake assessment of student progress and achievement in ballet technique and related areas
  • An ability to inspire and engage people through dance
  • Good communication skills
  • Personable manner, flexible approach and positive attitude
  • Good organisation and planning skills
