JOSH HUTCHBY

Freelance Dance Artist

Josh graduated from NSCD in 2015.

“The main learning point from NSCD, which I find incredibly helpful for my career, was finding out what dance technique best suited me. This led me to find my own personal movement style. By knowing how I move as a dancer, I know exactly what I can offer potential choreographers. Without the training provided by NSCD, I would not be where I am today!

Since graduating from NSCD, Josh completed his Master of Arts in Dance Performance in January 2015 at the University of Chichester with the postgraduate company Mapdance. During his time with Mapdance, he worked with Liz Aggis, Lee Drummer, Kevin Finnan, Abi Mortimer and Richard Alston.

I’m very grateful of the artist directors Yael Flexer and Detta Howe, all the dance staff at the University and all my fellow company members for a truly amazing experience.”

His professional career began as a freelance dance teacher for Tavaziva Dance Company and a support artist for the Stride project led by Dance Manchester and Company Chameleon. He has also performed in ‘Prevail’ by Iain Stringer Works and ‘Traysway’ by Ruth Jones.

He is currently working with Wired Aerial Theatre on their new work ‘To Me, To You.’ Later on during the year, he will be working with Glasshouse Dance Company in their current work ‘Us’ as well as performing once again with Wired Aerial Theatre in the production of ‘Carman’ at the Bregenz Opera Festival in Austria.
