Maria Elena is originally from Bologna, Italy. From the age of 4 she trained in ballet and contemporary dance at Endas Ensemble directed by Marika Mazzetti and Silvia Baioni. Maria Elena started her professional training at the age of 14 at Opus Ballet in Florence. In 2014 she moved to the UK to start the contemporary degree course at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and during her training worked with choreographers such as Kerry Nicholls and Hannes Langolf .
In 2016 she studied abroad at the DanceJerusalem programme, a partnership between the Jerusalem Academy of Music & Dance and the Hebrew University’s Rothberg International School. In Israel she has worked with choreographers such as Andrea Costanzo Martini and Tal Adler Arieli. She also participated at the Israeli Choreographers workshop studying Gaga and learning repertoire by Vertigo Dance Company and Batsheva Dance Company.
