SARA MAURIZI

Dancer

Born and raised in Perugia, Italy, Sara started dancing at the age of 6 at Centro Civico Dance Gallery, under the artistic direction of Rita Petrone and Valentina Romito. From the age of 11 Sara attended the Professional Contemporary Dance Course in the same institution, where she trained in Contemporary (Nikolais Method), Modern techniques and Ballet. During her years of training, Sara had the opportunity of studying with various choreographers and teachers, such as Carolyn Carlson, Edivaldo Ernesto, Cristiana Morganti and Kenji Takagi from Tanztheater Wuppertal, Nina Dipla, Bruno Collinet and others. In 2015 Sara took part as a dancer in the production 'Monarch: Antigone' by the Italian choreographer Mattia de Virgiliis.

In September 2015 Sara moved to London to undertake a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance at Trinity Laban, where she graduated in 2018 with a First Class Honours Degree. During her training at Trinity Laban she performed in works by Marina Collard, Lizzi Kew Ross, Hofesh Shechter, Heidi Rustgaard and Theo Tj Lowe. Whilst at Trinity Laban Sara had the opportunity to undertake a placement with the Batsheva Ensemble in Tel Aviv. Sara was also an apprentice dancer in Roxy Bryant’s Lost and Found and performed the work at Resolutions 2017, The Place.
