Sara Wookey is an internationally recognised dance artist, researcher and public speaker. The sole proprietor of Wookey Works, a company based in London offering creative services to cultural organisations, educational institutions and government agencies, her services include performances, workshops and consulting. As a dancer Sara has worked for Siobhan Davies, Matthias Sperling and Yvonne Rainer, whom she is certified by to teach and perform iconic repertoire works. Sara is a Tate Learning Research Associate and PhD candidate at the Centre for Dance Research (C-DaRE) at Coventry University researching the role of the dance artist in the museum. Her writing has been published by Art Review, Palgrave and Valiz. Her well known Open Letter to Artists (2012) was the catalyst for her becoming a spokesperson on labour rights and ethical working conditions for dance artists. In addition to serving on the Board of Governors at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance Sara is part of the Independent Dance Committee at Equity.
