About us

Based in the vibrant, student-friendly city of Leeds, we are a leading centre for dance in the UK and one of 6 schools forming the world-leading Conservatoire for Dance and Drama. We are currently the only provider of conservatoire-level dance training in the North of England.

For over 30 years we have enabled students to enter and shape the industry. Specialist programmes are offered at CertHE, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, focusing on the development of versatile and independent dance artists with highly-tuned technical, creative and performance skills. We are committed to widening access and recruit the most talented students, regardless of personal circumstance.

Many of our graduates go on to carve out substantial careers as successful performers and freelance dance artists or establish their own companies in a highly competitive field. Alumni include celebrated international choreographer Akram Khan MBE, Sharon Watson (Artistic Director, Phoenix Dance Theatre), Gail Parmel (Artistic Director, ACE Dance and Music) and Tamsin Fitzgerald (Artistic Director, 2Faced Dance).
