We open our summer programme with Mana, a vibrant and thought-provoking double bill performed by ACE dance and music. ACE currently has several links to NSCD; Artistic Director Gail Parmel and dancer Jerome Wilks both grew up in Chapeltown and trained at the School. Fellow ACE dancer Tom Tindall also trained here and performed with Verve in 2012. Current students Tiffany Bell and Shante Liburd work with ACE as apprentice dancers as they work towards completing their postgraduate training.
As part of Connections, a cross-cultural postgraduate exchange programme, we welcome EDge (LCDS) and BODHI PROJECT (SEAD) in April, to perform in dialogue with NSCD’s own postgraduate company, Verve, in July.
Working in partnership with Yorkshire Dance, NSCD is committed to bringing some of the world’s best experimental movement-based work to Leeds. With this in mind, we are delighted to present Your Majesties, a subtle lecture-performance, which explores Obama’s Nobel Lecture as a piece of lecture-performance.
Charlotte Spencer Projects presents Walking Stories, an innovative and interactive event in Roundhay Park that encourages attendees to take part in a living, breathing choreography.
Our Summer Programme also includes performances from our Learning and Participation groups, Yorkshire Young Dancers and the NSCD Foundation course. Graduation will be held in early July, and will showcase the diverse range of work created by students and members of the community right here in Leeds.
We hope to see you soon at The Riley Theatre.
