Yorkshire Young Dancers (YYD) Centre for Advanced Training

In 2004, with funding from the Department for Children, Schools & Families’ Music and Dance Scheme, the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) and Northern Ballet came together to deliver Yorkshire Young Dancers (YYD), the first national dance Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) in the UK. There are now a further eight dance CATs offering pre-vocational dance training to young people across the country.

As a whole, YYD is made up of two dance strands:

- Contemporary Dance, run by NSCD and available to 13 to 17 year-olds

- Ballet, run by Northern Ballet and available to 10 to 12 year-olds

Both strands have their own groups of students and curriculum.
