Join us for an evening showcasing the talents and achievements of students completing NSCD’s Access to Higher Education Diploma in Contemporary Dance.

Students will perform original work created as part of their study, plus an exclusive commission by Douglas Thorpe.

Douglas Thorpe danced with Phoenix Dance Theatre for over 20 years before developing his own choreography. He has since made work for ACE Dance & Music, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Staatstheater Mainz, and the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. The founder of Leeds-based company Mad Dogs Dance Theatre, Douglas is known for explosive, powerful and highly physical work. In 2015 he was commissioned to create a work for VERVE titled Dramatis Personae, since reworked for Leeds-based Mobius Dance.

The nationally recognised Access Diploma prepares talented young dancers for further professional dance training at some of the UK’s leading conservatoires for dance
