For their latest stage work, NYDC collaborates with multi-award-winning choreographer and Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist, Russell Maliphant.
Forty outstanding young dancers present a new contemporary work, celebrating their individual talents and exploring the movement languages embodied within the group to create a dynamic and visually rich journey, with a musical score by Dana Fouras and lighting design by Ryan Stafford.
NYDC has established a reputation for producing high-quality, critically acclaimed productions by leading choreographers including Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Sharon Eyal, Damien Jalet, Michael Keegan-Dolan, Akram Khan, Jasmin Vardimon and Botis Seva.

Russell Maliphant trained at The Royal Ballet School and graduated into Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet before pursuing a career as an independent dance artist, performing with DV8, Michael Clark, Rosemary Butcher and Laurie Booth.
He established his own dance company in 1996. Since then, he has received two Olivier awards, three South Bank Show awards and four Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards, amongst many other national and international accolades.
Maliphant’s work has also been performed by renowned dance artists including Sylvie Guillem, BalletBoyz, Munich Ballet and English National Ballet, for whom his piece Second Breath was part of the critically celebrated programme Lest We Forget. Maliphant became an Associate Artist of Sadler’s Wells in 2005 and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Arts from Plymouth University in 2011.
