CHRISTOPHER OWEN

Dancer and Choreographer

Christopher first studied on the Foundation Course at NSCD and then went on to do the BA (Hons) in Dance (Contemporary), graduating in 2005.

“The training I received from NSCD gave me a solid foundation from which to grow and develop a performance career from.”

On leaving NSCD, Christopher continued his studies at LCDS and went on to work for leading British contemporary dance and theatre companies including: The National Dance Company of Wales, Scottish Dance Theatre, Candoco Dance Company and National Theatre of Scotland. Christopher has worked with international choreographers including; Emanuel Gat, Hofesh Shechter, Nigel Charnock and the Trisha Brown Company, and continues to work as a performer with Mirjam Gurtner, Willi Dorner, Joe Moran and Dan Daw.

Alongside performing, Christopher also creates contemporary work under the company name Empathic Futures. The company’s work focuses on encouraging a new perspective on how we continue to live together as a community, to imagine a future in which empathic communication between humans is possible. His choreographic work to date includes; Northern Souls, Space is only Noise, The Creative Act, Water Walk (John Cage), Broken Fall Organic and In The Shadow of the Penis.

Christopher is an associate artist for Candoco Dance Company and a member of the educational team for Russell Maliphant Company.
