ANDROMEDA GERVáSIO

Dancer

Andromeda is from sunny Lisbon, Portugal. Introduced to dancing during their final year at high school, they began training professionally at PASS, Edinburgh for two years before another year at DSS in Anniesland, Glasgow. They continued their training for two more years at The Place in London, where they were awarded a BA with First Class Honours.

During their time at London Contemporary Dance School, Andromeda worked with Leila McMillan, Simone Mousset and Fernanda Muñoz-Newsome amongst others. They also joined a third year collective, working with Richard Alston on an original work that premiered at The Place and Sadler's Wells.

After graduation, they collaborated with artists in London on various screen and music video projects. They worked with musician Michael Sebastian and filmmaker Jamie Buchanan, choreographer/dance artist Angelina Gorgaeva, and performer and movement director Théïa Maldoom for designer Emilio de la Morena's London Fashion Week presentation. Previously, Andromeda has worked with Scottish-based Meggy Viana Dance Company as a guest performer and workshop facilitator.

Through their work Andromeda is hoping to find a place where they belong, that does not ignore but prioritises social/human rights and progress, from queer to racial movements.
