Joey grew up in a small village outside Colchester, Essex, and started dancing at the age of 16 at DanceEast Centre for Advanced Training. Over 3 years there he focused on Ballet and Contemporary Dance with the occasional Capoeira class. Joey also completed a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Ormiston Sudbury Academy, working with dancers from Company Wayne McGregor.
At age 18 he continued his training at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, working with choreographers such as Kim Brandstrup, Mark Baldwin and Martin Lawrence.
Alongside his training, Joey has taught contemporary classes to young children and co-choreographed a piece for Hampton High.
