LYDIA HERBERT

Saturday School Tutor - Girls Level 2

Born and raised in Leeds, Lydia joined the CAT scheme at NSCD at the age of 15 before gaining a place on the Foundation Course. Lydia graduated from Northern School of Contemporary Dance with a first in 2019, and received the Margaret Dunn Teaching Award. Throughout her studies, Lydia's interest in teaching and working with children and young people grew as she supported NSCD's Saturday school, Adult Creative Inclusive group and Summer School, engaging in as much freelance work as possible.

Since finishing her studies, Lydia has gained an apprenticeship as a full-time dance teacher at Leeds City College and also supports numerous establishments such as Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Phoenix Dance and East Riding Youth. Over the years, she has worked with dance artists such as Alleyne Dance, Sharon Watson, Joss Arnott, Jane McKernan and many more. Lydia aspires to lead and inspire the future generations of dancers, giving back to the community that allowed her to build her own skills and knowledge.
