NICOLA GERVASI

CAT Ballet Tutor

Nic was born in the picturesque town of Todi, in central Italy. At the age of 16 Nic began training at the English National Ballet School in London. Following his graduation he joined Peter Schaufuss Ballet in Denmark, where he performed in many productions including Marilyn, The King, and The Boys from Liverpool.

In 2010 Nic joined Northern Ballet where he reached the rank of First Soloist and has performed in countless story ballets. Nic’s key roles include Puck in Midsummer Night’s Dream, Nick in The Great Gatsby, the Nutcracker Prince, and Athos in The Three Musketeers, to name just a few. From the Leeds Grand and the Bradford Alhambra to the Royal Opera House and Sadler’s Wells, Nic’s career has been exciting to say the least.

Working with choreographers and being involved in different projects, Nic has developed a huge passion for choreography and teaching. In 2016 Nic created his first ballet, ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. This went on to tour nationally, and was broadcast on the BBC.

Having trained as a ballet teacher with Miss Yoko Ichino, in 2020 he joined the team of the Academy of Northern Ballet where he teaches both the CAT programme students and the Post Graduate students. Thanks to his extensive experience in narrative ballets, Nic’s teaching focuses not only on mastering technique but also developing strong performance skills, something he believes vital for any style of dancing.

In 2022 Nic joined NSCD as a ballet tutor for the CAT students.
