Yu-Chien began her training at her home town, Chupei, Taiwan. She went to the National Chupei Senior High School at the age of 15 where she started to train intensively, including Ballet, Contemporary, and Chinese dance. After three years of training, she continued training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where she studied her BA and graduated with a First Class Honors in 2021. There, she worked with various choreographers and collaborators including Matthew Harding, Tony Thatcher, and Northern School of Contemporary Dance alumni, Alleyne Dance. She also collaborated with Chisenhale dance for Encounter Bow festival.
