What's on

Spring/Summer season at Riley Theatre.

Situated at the heart of the NSCD building, Riley Theatre is a hub of artistic activity. Originally a working synagogue, the building is now Grade II listed with a bespoke stage and intimate seating, perfect for contemporary dance performances. We host a varied programme of exciting shows from visiting professional companies to current student work, with the aim of fostering creative talent and nurturing professional dance development.

This spring Riley Theatre presents a season of performances that champion the next generation of rising stars and emerging dance talent.

VERVE launched the season with a world premiere of their 2016 tour, a fast-paced, athletic and experimental series of dance works performed by 12 dancers, each on the cusp of promising careers.  Be sure to look out for them performing at venues across the UK over the coming months, or catch them as they return to Riley Theatre with a stunning Finale in June!

From March you can catch our annual Student Showcases, featuring performances from students on the BPA (Hons) degree programme. We’ll also be celebrating dance in the local community as we host the annual Community Dance Platform for groups and artists across the region.

In May we invite postgraduate companies EDge and mapdance to perform as part of postgraduate connections, the popular cross-cultural exchange programme, shortly followed by NSCD’s Foundation Course who present an eclectic mix of work in their graduation performance. July sees dancers from all ages and abilities who attend our part-time classes take to the stage in the annual Learning & Participation showcase.

Finally, don’t miss Graduation performances in July as the next generation of dance artists prepare to launch into the profession- a chance to witness the culmination of three years’ intense full-time professional dance training at conservatoire level.

Join us as we invest in, celebrate and discover the next generation of dance talent.
