Az grew up in Brighton and began dancing from an early age at their local dance school, training in a variety of styles. They later trained with Ceyda Tanc Dance, the Trinity Laban CAT Scheme and National Youth Dance Company, working with choreographers Alesandra Seutin and Wayne McGregor, and they continued to work with Alesandra for the Sadlers Wells offering to The Herds.
Az recently graduated from Northern School of Contemporary Dance's BA (Hons) Dance (Contemporary) course with a First-Class Honours. During their time at NSCD, they worked with artists and companies such as Gary Clarke Company, Hofesh Shechter Company, Joseph Mercier, Tom Roden and Antonio Bukhar Ssebuuma, and performed externally with Glitterbomb Dancers.
Through VERVE, Az is excited to further explore how different dance styles can influence and inspire each other, and to continue their love for using dance to bring people joy and connection.
