JACK TROTTER

Dancer

‘I dance because it creates a space for me to become a less societally forced version of myself, placing less expectation on how I should exist. This gives me the freedom to be what I choose to be in that moment.’

Jack (he/him) grew up in Hull, East Yorkshire and began formally dancing when he was 16 with Hull Dance Youth Company. Jack has participated in several community dance projects, one with Southpaw Dance Company, which was part of Hull City of Culture 2017, as well as with Hull-based company Tamar & Jo.

Jack graduated from London Contemporary Dance School in 2022 with a first-class honours degree – learning from Jason Mabana, as well as performing work by Becky Namgauds, repertoire by Ohad Naharin and Yael Flexer and performing improvisation led by Seke Chimutengwende. As well as this, Jack created a piece in his third year at LCDS, which was presented at Robin Howard Theatre, The Place.
