MARIA VITTORIA BORTOLOTTI

Dancer

"Over the years, I've come to understand that dance movement is the only alphabet that allows me to be fully understood by others. Through dance, I can translate what comes to my mind into something concrete within my body. Dance permits me to tell my stories"

Born in Italy, Maria Vittoria studied contemporary dance from an early age. During her teen years, she joined the programme 'Tecniche di Danza Moderna' directed by Caterina Rago, where Maria Vittoria studied Graham, Limon and Horton techniques. She also took classes at Scuola d'azione with Antonella Bertoni and Michele Abbondanza, which lead to her performing in their choreographic project Balli Plastici Remix in 2018.

She moved to London to study at Trinity Laban. At Laban, she worked with teachers including Ellen van Schuylenburch, Ben Warbis, Stephen Berkeley-White, Daniel Squire, Sara Ruddock and Clare Baker, and performed commissioned works by Candoco Dance Company and Heidi Rustaard. During her second year, she performed a re-staging of Drumstick, originally choreographed by Rudolf Laban and re staged by Alison Curtis-Jones. In 2021, She took part in B12 festival, participating in an intensive with Shamel Pitts. Maria Vittoria graduated from Trinity Laban with first class honours in 2022.
