CONCORDE
Agreeing, concurring; like-minded; united, joint, shared; peaceful; harmonious; literally, "hearts together."
We're pleased to announce CONCORDE, a project celebrating 20 years of VERVE as Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD)'s postgraduate dance company, and the talent and artist development it has offered to hundreds of artists along the way.
So, we're ready to celebrate, and we want you to be part of it.
Join us on stage
We're looking for 20 dancers from VERVE 07 to today to join us on stage for a big finale at this year's company premiere at The Riley Theatre on Saturday 27 February 2027.
Share your practice
Some of the 20 artists who wish to will also have the opportunity to share their practice as part of an open exchange event on Sunday 28 February. How you present is entirely up to you: a class, a workshop, a presentation, or whatever feels right. It's a day dedicated to sharing your artistic journey since leaving VERVE, with each other and with local artists and the public.
"Twenty years of VERVE means twenty years of artists walking through our doors and going on to build extraordinary careers around the world. CONCORDE is our chance to bring them back together, not to look backward, but to see how far that shared beginning has carried everyone, to celebrate what still connects us, and to think about how we move forward from here.
I've had the pleasure of leading a quarter of the VERVE legacy as Artistic Director since 2021, and it's held a very special place in my heart the whole way through. It has been a privilege to meet so many incredible artists, watched VERVE support them in shaping who they want to be and what they want to say in the industry, and now get to witness where they're taking that learning next. Let's celebrate all these different multiple journeys that started from the same place!"
- VERVE Artistic Director and Programme Lead, Matteo Marfoglia
“I feel super lucky to be taken on to help manage this celebration of 20 Years of VERVE as a postgraduate company. It makes me proud to know that VERVE is still providing opportunities for graduate dancers to grow as performers. My time in the company played a huge part in expanding my skill set not only as a dancer, but provided me with an insight into the work ethic needed to sustain a fruitful career in the sector. I am forever grateful to Matteo and those I shared my time with for making the experience what it was.”
- VERVE 22 Dancer and Project Manager of CONCORDE, Alex Gosmore
