ELLA ROBERTS

Dancer

‘When I dance I can embody my emotions or let them go. It lets me explore what I can’t reach without moving. ‘

Ella (she/her) grew up in South Devon where she began dancing at Swindon Dance (Exeter) CAT scheme, before joining National Youth Dance Company in 2017. During her time at NYDC she worked with choreographers Sharon Eyal and Botis Seva, performing both years at Sadler’s Wells and touring nationally. Ella was also part of the young cast for Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, Romeo and Juliet in 2018.

Ella then moved to Leeds to study at Northern School of Contemporary Dance. She had the opportunity to take part in an R&D with Akram Khan, which led to an apprenticeship with Akram Khan Company for the creation of Jungle Book: Reimagined. Ella graduated NSCD with a First Class Honours in 2022.
