EMMA POYER

she/her

"I dance because it’s the one moment where I can fully let go and push the boundaries of what seems reasonable. I dance to have fun, feel the magnetic energy of the people around me, and give to others."

Emma was born and raised in Réunion Island where she started dancing at the Conservatoire. At fifteen, she was accepted in a pre-professional dance programme in Paris then went on to study at The Place London where she graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Contemporary Dance. During her studies, Emma performed works by Anthony Matsena, James Cousins, Ella Mesma and Akeim Toussaint Buck.

She recently took part in the International Professional Workshop at École des Sables in Sénégal where she got the chance to be taught by Germaine Acogny, Alesandra Seutin, Wesley Ruzibiza and many more. Outside of her dance practice, she enjoys singing, playing the djembe, Kung Fu and surfing, where she finds new tools to nourish her artistry.
