 GAIA SOFIA TUNDO

she/her

"Dance gives me permissions that I have always struggled to give myself. It erases definitions and blurs the boundaries of my identity, so that I can find peace in chaos, wonder in error and comfort in change."

Originally from Lecce, Italy, Gaia began her training in ballet at an early age. After a few years, she joined Damus Accademia, where she broadened her studies by adding contemporary and urban dance to her training. In 2020, she moved to London to join the BA Contemporary Dance programme at Trinity Laban, where she graduated with a First Class Honours degree. During her time in London, Gaia performed Rosemary Butcher’s repertoire, in addition to creating new works with Jean Abreu and Takeshi Matsumoto.

Alongside her academic career, Gaia was also a member of Muzo Dance Theatre Company, directed by Giulia Roversi, and Dance.Film.Performance., a contemporary dance collective led by Angelina Gorgaeva.
