PIETRO CARLO MAZZOTTA

Dancer

“Dance is important to me because it helps me to reflect, discover and express my individuality as a person and a dancer. When I dance, I feel balanced.”

Born in Lecce, in the south of Italy, Pietro (he/him) started studying ballet and contemporary alongside other styles aged 16. He then moved to Leeds to study at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, where he graduated with a First Class Honours degree. During his training, Pietro worked with choreographers Phil Sanger, Thick&Tight, Joseph Mercier, Imogen Reeve and Mathieu Geffré. During his last year, Pietro also worked with Akram Khan as part of the research and development of Jungle Book: Reimagined. He also had the opportunity to perform in a work by Alesandra Seutin at the Riley Theatre, as well as in a piece by Sharon Watson for the 40th anniversary of Phoenix Dance Theatre at Leeds Playhouse.
