WILLIAM JAMES (JJ)

Dancer

"Dancing creates a limitless world of self-discovery, where I am able to become something greater than myself, larger than my expectations and beyond my past experiences. Dance feeds my curiosity as to who I am and what I can be, it encourages me to explore my identity every time I move. When I dance I am free from the boundaries present in the everyday."

William James (JJ) grew up in Bristol, and started dancing at the age of 7. He soon went on to pursue full-time vocational education at 11, where he trained in classical ballet and other dance forms. At 16, JJ went on to attend Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary, where he recently graduated with a first class degree.

During his time there JJ has worked with choreographers such as Robbie Ordaña and Jose Agudo, and had the opportunity to perform Jose’s restaging of ‘A Thousand Shepherds’ at the Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House. Since graduating he has also worked with other choreographers such as Sierian Griffiths and Susan Kempster, performing at dance festivals in the UK and Italy.
