ZARA PHILLIPS

Dancer

'Dance reminds me to not take life too seriously, why would you want to grow up when you can release your cheeky inner child instead. Every space can be a playground to explore.'

Zara (she/her) grew up in Liverpool, beginning her contemporary dance training at the Lowry CAT scheme in Manchester. During her time there, she was able to work with Akram Khan, Jamaal Burkmar and Phoenix Dance Theatre. Later she joined the National Youth Dance Company, touring England with works created by Botis Seva. Zara graduated Northern School of Contemporary Dance with a First class honours degree.

In her 3rd year, she took part in an apprenticeship with Rendez-Vous Dance Company to create a new work, Le Monocle, choreographed by Mathieu Geffre touring the Northeast of England.

As an outcome of her training, Zara has found an interest in digital art. She has worked as a freelance photography for the Lowry CAT scheme, and was also part of an interactive installation performance, working as a photographer and film maker with the Leeds City Museum.
