NSCD stands in solidarity with its Asian staff and students and the #StopAsianHate campaign after the horrific shootings earlier this month at spas in Atlanta, USA. We join those across the world who are still mourning and we condemn the recent rise in hate crimes against people of Asian descent across the UK.
NSCD's Student Union and People of the Global Majority (PoGM) Society said in a statement:
"The Union and PoGM Society will continue to work alongside NSCD to represent and support our student body and dismantle racism of all kinds. We are here to support our Asian community and international students and will be making extra effort to make sure students feel heard and supported in this current climate. The PoGM Society will be hosting a safe space for Asian students to process together and an additional Society meeting to discuss recent events and what steps we in the student body would like to take."
Sharon Watson, CEO & Principal of NSCD, commented:
"Tackling inequalities is a job we all need to address, and acknowledging the intersectionalities of racism is an ongoing plight. Being anti-racist is an action, independently and collectively we need to selflessly stand up to racism."
