International Exchanges

NSCD is committed to offering an educational exchange programme for Higher Education students, teachers and institutions. Whilst we are not part of the Erasmus+ scheme we do offer the opportunity for NSCD students to spend a term abroad at partner institutions and accept applications for students to apply to spend a period of time at NSCD on the BA (Hons) Dance (Contemporary) degree.

Applying to study at NSCD as part of an International Exchange

The NSCD academic year is divided into 3 terms, students can apply to spend a period of time studying at NSCD joining Year 3 of the BA (Hons) Dance (Contemporary) programme. The ideal period for an exchange period in Year 3 is November – March to access a full range of the modules.

The deadline for all applications to study in 2025/26 is 30^th April 2025.

Selection of exchange students will be based on a footage of work (web link) and accompanying letter. Applications should include;

5 minutes (max) of ballet technique work (including extracts of barre, centre and travelling).
5 minutes (max) of contemporary technique work (including extracts from static, centre/dynamic and travelling).
A solo dance of approximately 1.5 minutes duration which should include elements of contemporary dance.
A Creative/Improvisation Dance Task to assess your creative and choreographic skills.

The letter should include your reasons for applying to NSCD.

Due to the small cohort sizes NSCD only has the capacity to take a maximum of 2 exchange students per academic year and as such the demand for this opportunity is very competitive.
