There is no audition for this course. See below for more information on our application process.

  • Read the guidance below and prepare your application
  • Create a Quercus account to apply online and include a link to your recorded video footage. 
  • Pay the £20 application fee to confirm your submission.
  • If shortlisted, attend an interview online

Important information

Making your application

You are required to create an account via our online application portal Quercus to make an application. Once created, you can log in to see the status of any application(s), review your details and view any correspondence. 

Our application form asks for the following:  

  1. Personal information, including contact details and qualification details
  2. A link to video footage (maximum 15 minutes) that includes examples of your work to give us an idea of your work as an artist.  Your video should include:
    – Sample(s) of your creative work that you have created as a choreographer, director or in collaboration with another artist.  This could be group or solo work.
    – Sample(s) of you dancing yourself to give us an idea of your physical practice.  This could include yourself dancing in a group work (make sure you indicate who you are in the work), a solo work, an improvisation or some class material.  This can be of any dance/movement practice or style.Please ensure that each extract is of sufficient length (e.g. 2-3 minutes minimum) to allow the panel to evaluate the work effectively and labelled clearly to let us know what we are watching.
     
  3. A Personal Statement (750 – 1000 words) that addresses the following:
    – Artistic Experience
    Summarise your background in dance, theatre, performance, or other art forms. Include details about works that you have created as a choreographer or director, your dance training or physical practice, and any other relevant artistic experience.
    – Motivation and Ambitions
    Explain why you are interested in this course. What motivates you to apply, and what are your artistic and professional ambitions beyond the course?
    – Creative Practice and Research Interests
    Describe your creative motivations and artistic interests. What themes, methods, or disciplines drive your work? Which areas of your practice do you wish to develop further, and what specific areas of research are you interested in exploring?
     
  4. Equality and Diversity information

Important: We are aware that many applicants will use A.I. Tools to write their personal statements.  We highly value, hearing from you in own voice, so if you do use any A.I. Tools, please ensure that it is still specific to you and that your creative voice and personality is still present in the statement. 

Application fee

The application fee is a one-off payment of £20 and covers the cost of processing applications.

Instructions on how to make payment will be included in your confirmation email.

We are unable to process your application until we have received payment.

If you are applying for more than one course please contact admissions@nscd.ac.uk and you will be issued with a code to use at checkout to ensure you only pay the application fee once.

Interviews

We aim to review applications within 2 weeks of receiving them during term time. All applicants are interviewed as part of the application process.  

Outcomes

Applicants will receive one of the following outcomes: 

  • Offer (3 weeks in which to decide) 
  • Shortlist 
  • No Offer  

There is a procedure in place for candidates to ask for feedback in relation to the audition process and a complaints policy surrounding admissions once the application and offer process is complete. This information is available on here.

Please note: Due to high applicant numbers, we are unable to provide detailed feedback, but we do provide a standard feedback format which is designed to give applicants an indication of how the panel scored their audition.
