Northern School of Contemporary Dance is turning 40!
To celebrate we’re hosting a free, family-friendly festival on your doorstep, as part of our Kaleidoscope project.
Join us for music, food, dance performances and workshops that you can get involved with. You might even spot some mystical creatures roaming around the park and see someone you know on stage.
This event is for anyone who lives in Chapeltown or Harehills, or anyone interested in celebrating this milestone with our community.
No need to book – just turn up.
We’ve got a bumper programme lined up for Party in the Park, so take a look at what’s on and join us in Norma Hutchinson Park on Saturday 11th July. There’s dance, music, art, food and more, and all activities are free!

Party in the Park is taking place from 11:30 – 17:00 on Saturday 11th July 2026, in Norma Hutchinson Park.
The playground, basketball courts, gym equipment, benches, amphitheatre and most grassed areas will be accessible on the day of the event.
During set-up in the early morning, there may be some areas that aren’t accessible due to safety, but as soon as tents and activities are set up, the areas will be accessible again.
The only area that people won’t be able to use as normal is the football pitch. However, it will only be in use on the one event day, with set-up and pack-up happening on the same day, and there will be lots of free activities to get involved in instead.
Anyone is welcome to come to the event. We will have activities and performances aimed at children and young people and families, and adults will be welcome to come along and supervise younger children.
All the entertainment and activities at Party in the Park are free to everyone. There are some craft and food stalls selling things, and the prices will be available on the day from the traders.
The Kaleidoscope team, who are running the celebrations for Northern School of Contemporary Dance’s 40th celebrations, would like to hear from local community members. You can ask questions or raise concerns by contacting us at kaleidoscope@nscd.ac.uk
