  • The Host Organisation will:
    1. Provide Students with a safe and legal working environment, to include any required Employer’s and Public Liability insurance
    2. Ensure all activities which students engage in are appropriately risk assessed and that the Student is supervised where appropriate
    3. The Placement Contact will conduct or make arrangements for day to day supervision of students, including instruction regarding hazards and health and safety precautions and will facilitate access to the Student for any visiting tutor
    4. Provide Students with a full and clear induction to the Host Organisation and its working practices; including health and safety arrangements, fire precautions and emergency evacuation arrangements; how to report accidents, incidents and unsafe conditions; First Aid arrangements
    5. Ensure that Students receive adequate support, guidance and all round experience, to enable them to achieve the Intended Learning Outcomes
    6. Provide appropriate support and guidance to meet any Additional Support Needs
    7. In cases of accidents and incidents involving a student, or breaches of discipline by a Student, advise and consult the NSCD Module tutor responsible for the placement
    8. Plan the work or study programme and associated health and safety training to be undertaken by the Student(s)
    9. Have a nominated contact for health and safety matters
    10. Resolve health and safety issues with the Student(s) promptly
    11. Stipulate any specific competencies the Student(s) is/are expected to have attained before Placement commences
    12. We understand that NSCD will usually undertake the necessary DBS check to allow work with Young people and vulnerable adults, this information will not routinely be shared with Host Organisations but NSCD will discuss any issues which may occur prior to the placement commencing. Where a student does not have a DBS check NSCD will notify the Host Organisation.

    The Host Organisation and the School agree that a placement agreement may be terminated by the School on the grounds of misconduct or other serious breaches by either party provided that the School is satisfied that the relationship between the Host Organisation and the Student has irretrievably broken down. This does not affect the general right of the Host Organisation to temporarily suspend a placement on reasonable grounds (including, but not limited to unforeseen events, accidents or incidents involving a student or misconduct by a student). Any suspension must be reported to the School within 24 hours of the circumstances giving rise to the suspension coming to the attention of the Visiting tutor.
