Once you submit your application you will be required to pay the application fee. Instructions on how to make payment will be included in your confirmation email from admissions@nscd.ac.uk Applications without payment will not be considered.
The application fee is a one-off payment of £20 payable through our online Box Office once you submit your application, and covers the cost of processing applications and auditions. No further fee is required as part of the application and audition process.
We are unable to process your application until we have received payment.
We invite all in-person applicants to NSCD for their teaching observation and interview. These take place on the same day in either February or May.
Teaching observation:
We ask you to deliver a 30 minute dance class/workshop that includes both a technical warm-up and a creative exploration. We look for evidence of:
The level of the taught class is agreed with you prior to your confirmation of attendance.
The interview
Following the taught session we then interview each applicant. We’ll ask you to reflect on the session you’ve just delivered, ask you to tell us about your experience and ideas around teaching dance, and ask why you are interested in studying at NSCD, and what you hope to gain from the course.
Remote applicants need to submit a video link to a 30 minute recording of a class they recently taught. We look for evidence of:
We contact all remote applicants to arrange an interview over Zoom. We’ll ask you to reflect on the session in your video, ask you to tell us about your experience and ideas around teaching dance, and ask why you are interested in studying at NSCD, and what you hope to gain from the course.
Outcomes are communicated within 2-3 weeks of interview. Remote applications are viewed on a rolling basis and therefore outcomes will be communicated as and when submissions are viewed and interviews have taken place.
