MAX REVELL

BA3 student Max Revell won BBC Young Dancer 2019, a prestigious competition searching for the UK's best dancers aged 16-21 in Ballet, Contemporary, South Asian and Street Dance. Max was selected to progress to the Grand Final as a 'Wild Card' entry and presented three works to the judges; self-choreographed solo Subject Number 6, a duet with Tom Hughes Lloyd and Unstrung, a solo choreographed by world-renowned Hip-Hop dancer Dickson Mbi.

Max grew up in Plymouth, taking breakdance and popping classes with local company Street Factory since the age of nine and later returning there to teach. As a teenager, he travelled across the UK competing in various battles, and worked with several theatre companies before auditioning for conservatoires. He joined NSCD in 2017.

Upon winning BBC Young Dancer Max said: “My goal is to continue battling and competing but also to create and perform in both contemporary and hip hop theatre shows around the world."

He continues to compete internationally and recently won prizes at Ruhrpott Battle 2019 in Herne, Germany and Dance 2 Connect Festival 2019 in Manchester. He also performed Unstrung at Sadler's Wells as part of Sampled.
