NSCD+ Bursary

What is a bursary?

Supported by the Leverhulme Trust

The NSCD+ Bursary, supported by the Leverhulme Trust, is designed to remove financial and structural barriers to high-quality dance training for talented young dancers aged 13–18 from underrepresented backgrounds living in the North of England. Combining financial support with a structured three-tier training pathway, the programme nurtures individual potential, develops technical and creative skills, and broadens access to pre-vocational dance opportunities.

Applications now open for academic year 2026/2027, apply below!

How Are Participants Selected?

We use a holistic and inclusive selection process to identify individuals who would benefit most from the programme.

Selection pathways include:

  • Means Testing – assessing household income and financial need
  • Nominations – from teachers, mentors, or community leaders
  • Talent Spotting – identifying dancers who may not otherwise access training

Selection is based on:

  • Dance potential and creative expression
  • Commitment and motivation
  • Personal barriers or disadvantages faced
  • Aspirations and programme suitability

This is not a formal audition. Our process is designed to get to know each dancer and understand how we can support their journey.
