ELLEN WOOD

Clerk to the Governors

Ellen is Clerk to the Governors here at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, where she provides high-level governance leadership and supports the effective operation of the Board and its committees with clarity, rigour and independence.

She brings substantial experience in governance, operations and strategic planning, developed through senior roles across education, arts, legal, and community-focused organisations.

Alongside her professional work, Ellen has built a strong record of board and committee leadership through a number of voluntary appointments, including Governor and Chair of the Resources Committee at Altofts Junior School, Trustee and Chair of the Finance Committee at The Art House, and formerly Chair of the Governing Body at Martin Frobisher Infant School.

Her background reflects a sustained commitment to strong governance, sound decision-making and providing both strategic support and constructive challenge at board level.

Ellen studied Communication Studies at Nottingham Trent University, graduating with a 2:1, is a qualified Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider) and also holds an ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management.

She is recognised for her highly organised, thoughtful and purposeful approach, and for her commitment to upholding the standards, relationships and governance culture that enable institutions to flourish.
