Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) is excited to announce its involvement in Dance Passion Bradford, a full length primetime dance programme commissioned by BBC Arts.
The programme was broadcast live on national TV on Sunday 9th November at 8pm and aims to showcases the diversity, creativity, and talent within the UK dance sector. In a dynamic fusion of movement, colour and energy, dancers of all kinds take over the streets, theatres and surrounding countryside to showcase the city and celebrate the joy of dance, during Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture.
The opening piece featured 11 expectionally talented NSCD students currently studying on our BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance Performance course, which seeks to provide specialist training for future dance artists. It was choreographed by NSCD Alum and co-founder of Phoenix Dance Theatre, Donald Edwards.
Dance Passion Bradford is the only dance specific programme the BBC is commissioning this year, outside of Strictly Come Dancing, and has provided NSCD with a national platform to celebrate the artistic strengh and calibre that exists within the School. Being selected to feature in the programmme further reinforces NSCD's reputation as a thriving centre for contemporary dance outside of London, and highlights the strong dance ecology present in the North of England.
