The 'Dance MAMA Live!' tour is on the road and coming to NSCD to deliver a series of workshops, webinars and performances for parents and their little ones! But who's got the best moves?

Here's what's happening on the day:

  • Webinar - A discussion of developments in support for parents in dance over the last few years hosted by Lucy McCrudden, Balbir Singh and Anna Ehnold-Danailov.
  • Workshop for adults and parents - Creative dance session with the founders of York Space Dance, a dance company that enables people of all ages and abilities to take part in classes at their own pace.
  • Children's Workshop and Performance - Children learn how to do the robot in a whimsical performance of The Greatest Robot Ever presented by Hawk Dance Theatre & The Knotted Project Theatre Company. This will be followed by an interactive workshop led by two guest choreographers.

10am - 11am: Webinar

In conversation with Dance Mama Founder/CEO, Lucy McCrudden, renowned choreographer Balbir Singh and Co-CEO and Artistic Director of Parents & Carers In Performing Arts Campaign, Anna Ehnold-Danailov. Lucy, Balbir and Anna will discuss support for parents in dance and recent developments over the last few years.

11.15am - 12.15pm: Workshop for adults and parents

York Dance Space founders, Hannah and Drew Wintie-Hawkins lead this creative dance session for parents in dance – in person at NSCD, Leeds and online via Zoom.

Both graduates of London Contemporary Dance School, Hannah and Drew developed extensive performing careers before moving back to Hannah’s hometown in York to create their own independent dance organisation and to start their own family.

11.15am - 12.15pm: Children’s Workshop and Performance

Whilst you get a chance to dance, your children can get their funky robot on and meet The Greatest Robot Ever in a performance by Hawk Dance Theatre & The Knotted Project Theatre Company.

Following this energetic, fun and entertaining dance theatre work made for children, join choreographer Josh Hawkins and company dancer Natalie for an interactive workshop based on the performance.

12.15pm - 1pm: Q&A and Chat

A chance to ask the guest artists and choreographers any questions, and share what you have learned that day.
