kick off boys dance project – weekly classes

These classes run for 9 weeks with no classes the week of half term – Tuesday 26th May 2026 

Kick Off is an all-male youth dance group in Leeds. Open to all boys aged 12-18 years. 

Delivered in partnership between Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Leeds City College & Phoenix Dance Theatre. 

Led by one of our Male delivery artists George Bishop, these classes involve a range of contemporary dance techniques and creative skills, to develop movement memory, coordination, strength, stamina, alignment, flexibility, and choreographic/performance skills. The group works as a company exploring creative and choreographic concepts, working towards the development of a performance piece each term. 

These classes are designed and appropriate for young people who are new to or have an existing understanding of contemporary technique and who wish to work creatively and perform new work in a supportive & co-creative dance environment. 

This project will also support participants in understanding pathways and routes into further training and a career in dance. 

Kick Off Boys will have the opportunity to share/perform what they have been working on with friends and family on the below dates: 

• Learning & Participation Annual Showcase - Saturday 27 June 2026 (to be confirmed)
