JAMES SHING-MU CHENG

he/him

From 2016 - 2019, James was an intern at U-Theatre in Taipei, Taiwan. During his time there he learned martial arts, gymnastics, dance, piano, violin, percussion and meditation. He graduated with the U-Theatre Artistic Director award in July 2019. James went on to join the BA in Music and Movement at Geneva Music University in Switzerland, majoring in Piano. Following his graduation in 2022, James took part in the SPECIFIC Dance Training Program in Tuscania, Italy.

"I've been immersed in music since I was five, and it's always been a big part of my life. As both a musician and a performer, music and dance are inseparable to me. When I dance, I translate the music's nuances into movement, making my body an instrument, sometimes in harmony and other times in the solo. I'm excited about this interdisciplinary program, deepening my connection between music and dance and sharing the joy of blending these art forms with more people. I also look forward to exploring cross-disciplinary collaborations by learning from artists in different fields this year."
