Born and raised in Leeds, Mason began his dance training at the age of 17, having gained a place on the Centre for Advanced Training Scheme at Northern School of Contemporary Dance. With limited dance experience prior to this, Mason progressed to full-time vocational training and graduated from NSCD with a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance in 2016.
On graduating, Mason joined NSCD's postgraduate company, VERVE, performing works by Mattias Sperling, James Cousins, Leila McMillan and Carlos Pons Guerra. He subsequently joined Black Box Dance Company in Denmark, touring contemporary dance works around the UK, Europe and further afield including Greenland and Tanzania.
As well as working with acclaimed choreographers, Mason has also choreographed his own work since 2015. His piece Contaminated created for and with DAZL's all-male Youth Dance Company was selected to represent Yorkshire at the regional U.Dance Festival in 2015.
Mason currently teaches Adult Contemporary evening classes and Centre for Advanced Training students at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, as well as Kick Off Boys Youth Dance Project.
