Nicola Falkingham - Northern School of Contemporary Dance

NICOLA FALKINGHAM

Student Finance Manager

Association of Accounting Technicians Professional Diploma

Role and responsibilities:

Nicola is the first point of call for any Student Finance queries at NSCD. She manages and maintains all tuition fee income from the Student Loan Company or equivalent and self-fee payers. She is responsible for assessing, calculating and paying bursaries and scholarships; this also includes supporting students through the process.

Nicola assists in producing reports and assessing documentation that has guidelines set out by various external organisations (e.g. Conservatoire for Dance & Drama, Office for Students, Department of Education).

Who am I?

“I’ve always had an interest in pursuing a career in accounting or finance from a young age and find working in the education sector very rewarding. I take great pride in supporting students and allowing them to follow their dream studies by helping them navigate the often complex world of student finance. Knowing that my support may ease their worries and stress, allowing them to perform to their full potential is a great motivator for me.

Outside of work here at NSCD I’m a creative person who enjoys completing crafts and small interior design projects. I also love spending time with my family, especially my son and helping him explore the world and live life to his full potential.”

Career History

Nicola went into an educational finance role straight from college and worked at her old High School as a Finance and Administration Assistant from 2006-2010. She joined NSCD in January 2010 and, during her time here, she has moved from Finance Assistant to Finance Officer and now Student Finance Manager.
