Role and responsibilities
Alice acts as a first point of contact for all students at NSCD. Her role is to act on any queries, concerns or worries and to work with both the staff and students to help solve them, provide support or direct them to someone who can. Covering academic areas and also general wellbeing in and out of the school. Alice is a friendly and welcoming face to all students so that they feel supported and listened to.

Who am I?

“I graduated from Leeds Beckett University’s School of Social Sciences with a BA (Hons) in Sociology. I was driven to study sociology because I wanted to understand society better and why it is the way it is. When I moved to Leeds, in 2018, I loved it! I found it so fun and exciting and decided I never wanted to leave. I’m a people person; I love chatting and meeting new and different people.

After finishing my degree I applied to NSCD to work in student services. It only took one chat with some existing staff members to realise this was the place for me! I thrive somewhere creative; there’s always something happening and someone presenting me with something new.

Studying Sociology made me want to help people and support them to reach their potential and here I was given that opportunity.”

Career History

Before coming to Leeds for University Alice worked several summer stints in HR. While Alice studied she worked as a Support Worker, through the pandemic, caring for adults with learning difficulties before joining NSCD as a recent graduate.
