Thank you for your interest in the MA Dance & Creative Enterprise

NSCD considers all applications and submissions and our selection process is designed to assess your suitability for this course.  We welcome all applicants regardless of disability, ethnicity, gender, sexuality or religion.

Applications for September 2020 entry open on Tuesday 1st October 2019.

Applications should be submitted by one of the two dates below:

  1. midday on Saturday 29th February 2020
  2. midday on Wednesday 20th May 2020

Offers will be considered after each of these two dates, however, we have a limited number of places on this course and so recommend early submission of your application where possible.

NSCD welcomes applicants to this unique course who wish to:

  • Define and develop choreographic interests and an artistic voice
  • Learn tools in arts project management, business planning, fundraising and marketing; essential for independent artists
  • Test your ideas using industry-standard facilities
  • Gain opportunities to realise creative ambitions
  • Join a network of dance makers, performers and professionals

This course is suitable for emerging and more established dance artists.

There will be an MA Dance and Creative Enterprise Open Day, at NSCD, on Saturday 15th February 2020.  Further details about the day and booking information will be available here soon.

We are also holding taster workshops in a number of cities in the United States of America in October and November 2019 and in Norway on Sunday 12th January 2020.  Please contact for further details.

How to Apply

There is no audition for this course. Instead, applicants are requested to submit online examples of their work for consideration.  After the submitted work has been viewed, shortlisted applicants are invited to be interviewed by phone or Skype.

When completing your application, you will need to provide:

  • Personal information, including contact details and qualification details
  • Your CV
  • Filmed footage/showreel to include examples of your work that best represent the breadth of your interests as an artist.  This may include your creative work, your performance work, your solo work and/or your improvisation work.  For example:
    • Your choreographic work.
    • Extract from a durational performance directed and/or performed by you.
  • A written personal statement detailing your approach to producing work and reasons for applying

Application Fee

The application fee is £50 which is payable through our online Box Office at the point you submit your application. We are unable to process applications until your application has been paid for.

Application Outcomes

Offers will be made shortly after the interviews.  Applicants who are offered a place will be given 2-3 weeks to accept.
